Insurance Law
Cover, claims and liability.
A direct discussion to help you choose the next step.
From policy wording to handling a claim
We assist insurers, intermediaries, businesses, professionals and policyholders with coverage reviews, claims handling and disputes. We start with your position, the facts and the documents to identify the possible next steps.
When we can help
Cover is disputed. We review the denial and the policy terms: the insured risk, exclusions, limits, deductibles, excesses and the obligations of each party.
You have received a claim for compensation. We reconstruct what happened, assess liability and examine insurance cover. Liability and cover require separate assessments.
You need to handle a claim or dispute. We assist in dealings with insurers and intermediaries, in the defence of claims and in negotiations, including the assessment of defence costs and indemnity claims against insurers.
Professional and healthcare liability
The engagement, the alleged conduct, causation and loss are the starting points. At the same time, we review notification, cover and correspondence. Healthcare matters require legal analysis to be coordinated with the necessary medicolegal assessments.

Claims-made cover: dates matter
A claim received today may concern work performed years earlier. We examine the definitions of an insured event and a claim, retroactive cover, known circumstances and any cover after the activity has ceased.
A change of insurer also requires a coordinated review of the policies and dates to assess continuity of cover.

How the first discussion begins
A few lines about your situation and any deadlines are enough to contact us. To assess your position, it will be useful to have:
The complete policy. General and specific terms, endorsements and any previous policies.
The history of the claim. A chronology, the relevant engagement or contract and documents relating to the loss.
Correspondence and deadlines. Notifications, claims for compensation, insurer responses, documents received and any hearings or appointments already scheduled.
Every engagement begins by identifying the client and checking for potential conflicts of interest. The first discussion helps clarify the facts and the scope of the legal assistance.
